Vortex Origins #1
Vortex Origins
Here are a few images that I created before the The View Near the Vortex and Strange Architecture series. Normally I just dispose of the preliminary work like this. In this case I thought it would be interesting to show some of the background steps.
This image was the result of undirected experimentation. I was not thrilled by it, but I liked it enough to try some variations.
Strange Architecture #14
See Strange Architecture #1 for a brief description of the series.
Today's image was created while I was finishing up this series. It does not fit well with the rest of the series. Different colors, much less chaos, and corduroy patches. I thought about using this as a starting point for a new series. However, I have a plan in place for the next month or so of posts, and I am eager to get started on that. So it goes into the current series for now, perhaps it will become a "corduroy patches" series next year.
Strange Architecture #7
The previous images were removed from The View Near the Vortex to start this series. This piece and the next few I put together specifically for Strange Architecture.
See Strange Architecture #1 for a brief description of the series.
Strange Architecture #1
Strange Architecture
Strange Architecture is a continuation of The View Near the Vortex. The first few pieces here were originally a part of the previous series. I pulled them out because they did not have the feeling of something being sucked into a vortex. The colorful sharp pieces are present, but they seem static. Or if not static, it is as if there is some design or intent in the motion. Some kind of strange architecture.
Rules for this series:- Many colorful, sharp shapes.
- Less chaos than the previous series.
- Design by a mad architect.
View Near Vortex #9
See View Near Vortex #1 for a brief description of the series.
The comments in View Near Vortex #8 also work here.
View Near Vortex #8
This image and the next provide a transition to the next series.
One of the rules for this series that I listed in View Near Vortex #1 was a suggestion of motion. Here, there is not a strong feeling of motion. Overall there is still a feeling of a past destruction. (That was my intent.) However some small sections feel planned and constructed.
The next series will have similar images, but with less motion and less chaos.
