Starting Point.

This is one of the originals. First I pulled some pieces out of Strange Zone II for Busy Zone. Then I pulled some pieces out of Busy Zone for Red Blue Zone. Then I decided to reduce the clutter, and reworked all of them. All except for this one, which I saved to show you one of the too-busy originals.

Deep red/blue horizontal flow, with a little cyan tossed in.

The shapes here are similar to Bright Zone, with some corduroy patches.

The Red Blue Zone as you may have guessed consists of images that are predominately reds and blues. The patterns are similar to other "Zone" images.

All of the images here are new.

As with the other recent Zone series, late last year I put together the preliminary plans and the initial set for this series. In the first pass, this group was part of Busy Zone. I separated it for the similar colors.

After recently finishing publishing Busy Zone, I had a desired to dial back on the high density chaos of that series. Consequently, all of the original candidates for the Red Blue series have been replaced with reworked or new pieces with less chaos.

I tried several combinations of inverting and swapping the color channels. In the next two, the blue and red are inverted (no swapping).

Others: R' = G, G' = -R, B' = B
Here: R' = -R, G' = G, B' = -B

I know this is over explaining but... I use -X to represent an inverted color. In color space inverting a color is not just negating a value. On most computers the RGB colors have integer values between 0 and 255. So the inversion of X is 255-X. I use a representation where the colors are floating point values between 0.0 and 1.0. In this case inversion is 1.0 - X.

G<=>-R Zone

Here is another collection that arose from Strange Zone II. I had several images where I liked the shapes but not the colors. The colors were ok, but I felt that I had already overused that particular palette in the zone set. So I took the digital representation of the finished image and inverted the red color channel and swapped it with green. The cryptic title is meant to describe the color swap operation.

Last November I had a large collection planned for Strange Zone II. I decided that it was too large and broke it up into several smaller collections. I have been publishing those separated zones since then. Along the way I have been touching up the originals and creating new images to augment the break out collections. For this group, I plan to just publish the originals. (But I reserve the right to change my mind in the next week.)

I was working on additional pieces for the Busy Zone series but I was struggling with the color scheme for this one. The less busy areas along the top needed bright colors. When I was satisfied with the colors, I realized I had created a piece for Bright Zone instead of Busy Zone. There is no rule that says I cannot augment previous series.
