Random Wavy Patterns #1

Random Wavy Patterns. Swap two words to get the title of the next series.

The last set was mainly filling up a waving flag shape with random patterns and small shapes. This time I fill the whole canvas with random wavy shapes.

Wavy Random Patterns #29

A very busy one mixing a black and white layer with rainbow colors.

Wavy Random Patterns #27

Here metallic colors on the left transition to flat colors on the right.

Wavy Random Patterns #26

Three layers. Another color combination that I like.

Wavy Random Patterns #25

This image has four flat layers. The colors match layers on Wavy Random Patterns #23. The shape details in the layers are different between the two images. The main difference is making the layers flat.

Wavy Random Patterns #24

Today's image has a color scheme similar to the images Wavy Random Patterns #11 to Wavy Random Patterns #18. Here, the bottom layer has depth, the top layer is flat.

Wavy Random Patterns #23

Four layers

1 & 3 blue / gold / brown

2 & 4 dark red / light blue

Wavy Random Patterns #22

Single layer, with dark red / light blue colors.

Wavy Random Patterns #21

Detail of yesterday's image Wavy Random Patterns #20.

Wavy Random Patterns #20

This one has more depth than Wavy Random Patterns #19, and I added a dark red/ light bule layer.

Wavy Random Patterns #19

Resuming posting. Continuing the same theme, with more palettes and more layer combinations. Here are two blue/gold/brown layers.

Wavy Random Patterns #18

Let's call this one 20% over blending.

Wavy Random Patterns #17

Setting the relative weights on how to blend is a design choice. The previous image is "equal" weight. Here the weight of the foreground layer is reduce by 50%. The result has a better balance.

I am not going to define "blend" or "50% over blending". There is a lot going on here. I do not have a simple dial to turn that goes from 0-100. Unquantified "less" and "more" is obvious. So this is "a somewhat lighter top layer that I am arbitrarily calling 50%".

Wavy Random Patterns #16

Reversing the layers.

Compare this to the earlier image Wavy Random Patterns #12 that I selected to publish as the finish piece. I think having the subdued colors in the foreground works much better. It is a small improvement, over yesterday's single layer Wavy Random Patterns #15. There are more wrinkles and subtle highlights in the colors. But I think the top layer is still too dominant.

Wavy Random Patterns #15

Bottom layer "Hot Color".

Wavy Random Patterns #14

Top layer "Blood".

Wavy Random Patterns #13

2x zoom detail of yesterday's post.

Wavy Random Patterns #12

Similar to yesterday's post, but with heavier layers.

I am going to spend some time (de)constructing this image. I appreciate it when I see similar details on someone else's web page. I appreciate that the artist took the time to provide the details, and I enjoy the piece more. But that is me. I suspect other's might say "just show me something new", or that removing the mystery may decrease one's appreciation of a piece.

So, normally I try to just give a light touch on the construction details, and move on to the next thing. This week, I am experimental mode, so please indulge me.

Wavy Random Patterns #11

Two layers, blended. Hot and blood colors combined.
