20000 rectangles

Today's picture has 20000 rectangles. There are 1000 rectangles each of 20 colors. The rectangles are painted in order of 1000 of the first colors, 1000 of the second and so on. While there is an equal number of rectangles of each color, the color of the last set (in this case orange) dominates.

10000 rectangles

Each rectangle is assigned a weight and a color. A typical weight is 10%. When a new rectangle is added, 10% of the new rectangle color is added to the current color of each pixel it intersects.

50000 rectangles

I am starting a new series today. Each image is created with 50000, give or take, overlapping rectangles. The first image here has exactly 50000 rectangles.

Here the "scribbles" have more depth. Surface colors are deemphasized in favor of bright lights and deep shadows.

Another short series, Textured Scribbles, starts today. Like Textured Fractals, these started as experiments as part of the Experiment 2023.2 series.

There is a lot of overlap with the previous two series. The textures are borrowed from the Experiment series. The scribbles are contour line from fractals in the Textures Fractals series.

Metallic coloring with a low iteration fractal. Also something I want to revisit someday.

Here are a couple with broken pieces. This could become a separate series in the future.

The first of two flat ones.

A proper study of the topic, with well-known fractal formulas would be interesting. I am just not interested in digging deeper today. So for now, here are a few experiments that scratch the surface of the named topic. Of course the series could be extended in the future.

The underlaying fractal formulas are some of my personal creations. Obscure and absurd. A series called "Textured Fractals" should start with generally well-known and recognizable fractals.

This series mixes in fractal elements. I struggled with the decision to put these into a separate Textured Fractals series. The fractal aspect here is incidental, very light-weight. The emphasis is strongly on the textures. Someone without above average experience with fractals may not even notice the fractal-ness here.

This new series is really a continuation of the Experiment 2023.2 series. I was wrapping up the final pieces, cleaning them up to publish. Then I entered art-mode again, and created over a dozen more pieces to publish.

The Experiment series was getting too long. I decide to start a short new series called Textured Fractals.
